Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir & She’Koyokh in a unique collaboration at London’s The Forge
In a unique collaboration, She’Koyokh & Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir combine the fiery panache of klezmer and Balkan music with the timeless beauty of Bulgarian voices. Bulgarian folk singing sparked the world’s attention in the ‘80s with Filip Kutev’s Grammy Award-winning Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares. This ancient, distinctive and highly sophisticated vocal tradition is said to be capable of transforming daily hardship and historical tragedy into sublime beauty. Bulgaria famously sits on the crossroad between Europe and Asia, and this is a fitting union; She’Koyokh, “playing the best Balkan and klezmer music in Britain” (The Evening Standard) form a unique collaboration with Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir, weaving Jewish, Turkish and Balkan music into the rich tapestry of the Bulgarian choral tradition.
